Mackintosh At The Willow are delighted to announce the public opening of the terrace on the 8th June. As one of only two South facing terraces in Glasgow City Centre the space enjoys incredible sunshine and has been carefully designed to show off both its exposed original brickwork and views of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed chimney- an architectural treasure! With ample seating, plants and lighting plus use of a pop-up bar this delightful and unique space is perfect for public use, private parties and special events.
The Rooftop Terrace is the final part of an incredible four-year restoration project, returning Kate Cranston’s iconic tea rooms to their 1903 glory. Now much more than a tea rooms, 217 Sauchiehall Street includes an education program, tours, corporate spaces and a carefully curated retail store.
For visitors curious to learn more about the city’s rich heritage, the unique partnership of Mackintosh and Cranston and the arts and crafts of the restoration project there is also a family-friendly interactive exhibition centre over two floors.
The current opening hours for the terrace are 12noon-5pm with these being extended over the coming months. The terrace will run on a first come first served, weather dependent basis and is only bookable for large parties and special occasions.
